Where We Left Off

Inspired by their grandfather, Clinton and Vincent join the military. Two Anglo-Filipino brothers share their personal experience of navigating the highs and lows of Australian military culture. Now retired from service they share their story. Beginning in the rural countryside of Victoria, they detail how their childhood instilled a strong sense of family values, allowing them to seamlessly transition into the military lifestyle. In their time apart they experience a new and confronting world as soldiers, living away from friends and family as they serve overseas in Afghanistan, Iraq and East Timor. Beyond the military, Vincent and Clinton reflect upon their relationship and the complexities of brotherhood and acknowledge the profound influence their father and grandfather have had on their lives, shaping them as soldiers and as men.
